This workshop introduces pranayama—yogic breathing practices that can nurture balance, resilience, and peace of mind. You’ll explore resonance breathing, a simple method shown to support the nervous system and improve overall well-being. Alongside this, you’ll be guided through foundational techniques from the seminal yoga text, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, including mudras (gestures), bandhas (energy locks), and gentle breath retentions.
These practices can help activate the parasympathetic nervous system, associated with rest, relaxation and renewal. Many use the methods to help reduce stress, and build steadiness in body and mind—valuable tools for facing life’s challenges with calm and clarity.
Class will take place primarily in seated positions on the floor, supported by blankets, bolsters, and yoga blocks. Please avoid eating for at least 1.5 hours before the session.
Note: This workshop is not recommended for those who are pregnant, or who have heart conditions, hypertension, or hernia.
